The “Textile Impact Assessment Workshop” was organized in Ankara within the scope of the Technical Assistance Project for the Development of the End-of-Waste Concept in Türkiye, financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and of which the General Directorate of Environmental Management is the beneficiary.

The workshop, which was held between October 21-24, 2024, aimed to inform participants about the End of Waste criteria and their implifications specifically for the textile sector and to use the results of the work sessions as technical input.

Ms. Sabriye AYHAN, Head of the Circular Economy and Waste Management Department of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Edward Scott CROSSETT, Project Team Leader, delivered the opening speeches of the four-day workshop.

In the workshop the recycling of textile products and the studies conducted in the European Union on this subject and the European Union perspective on textile transformation were conveyed, case presentations on textile recycling were made.

The current general situation and approaches in textile management, which is one of the important sectors for our country, were discussed.

In the last two days of the event where the work sessions were held, project experts and workshop participants held round table studies. Participants evaluated the outputs in terms of the project approach; environment and human health, market and economic impacts; legislation and social impacts.

The event ended with the evaluation of the workshop results and group work.
