"Aluminum and Copper Impact Assessment Workshop" was held in Ankara within the scope of the Technical Assistance Project for the Development of the End of Waste Concept in Turkey, which is financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and of which our General Directorate of Environmental Management is the beneficiary. The Workshop, held between 18-21 March 2024, aimed to inform stakeholders about the End of Waste criteria and their impacts and to use the results as technical input for project studies.
The opening speeches were delivered by Circular Economy and Waste Management Department Head Sabriye AYHAN and Project Team Leader Edward Scott CROSSETT. On the first day of the workshop, Project Experts Manuel SALGADO BLANCO and David SMITH explained the end-of-waste criteria for copper and aluminum. Deputy project team leader Oğuzhan AKINÇ and project expert Engin TURAN presented the end-of-waste criteria for aluminium and copper and implementation roadmap for Turkiye
Project Expert Prof. Dr. Ülkü YETİŞ evaluated the project approach, expected outputs, and environmental and human health impacts, while Oğuzhan AKINÇ, evaluated legislation and social impacts with participants.
In the final two days of the four-day Workshop, Impact Assessment Consultation Working Groups conducted impact assessment studies for copper and aluminum in the presence of the project team leader and other project experts. The event concluded with an evaluation of the workshop results and group activities.
